Privacy Policy

Kuji is a live AI tutor made by OFNT/Makesquare ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect when you use Kuji at withkuji.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, email us at [email protected].

The short version

• We collect what we need to teach you: your account details, what you work on, and how your lessons go.
• Your voice is streamed to our speech providers so the tutor can hear and answer you. We don't record or keep audio. We do keep a written transcript of each lesson.
• We don't sell your information, and we don't use third-party advertising or tracking.
• You can delete your account, and everything in it, at any time from Settings.

What we collect

Information you give us

• Account details: your email address, and your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google. You can also add a display name and a profile photo.
• About you: the age range you confirm when you sign up, and the country and time zone your device reports, which we use for pricing and scheduling.
• What you learn: the goals you describe, the answers you give when we set up a Path, and any files you upload (such as PDFs or documents) so the tutor can teach from them.
• Your tutor settings: the tutor you choose and how you'd like to be taught.
• Messages to us: anything you send when you contact us.

Information created as you learn

• Lessons: a transcript of what you and your tutor say, the tutor's captions, what's drawn on the shared whiteboard, and your answers to practice questions.
• Progress: which concepts you've covered, how confident you seem, your flashcards and reviews, your points, streaks and garden.
• Usage: how long lessons last and how much of your plan you've used, so we can apply limits and bill correctly.

Information collected automatically

• Technical data: your IP address, browser and device type, and logs of requests to our servers, which we use to keep Kuji running and secure.
• Cookies and local storage: we use essential cookies to keep you signed in, and your browser's local storage to remember small preferences on your device. We don't use advertising cookies or third-party analytics.

How we use it

We use your information to:

• run your lessons and personalise how the tutor teaches you;
• remember your progress so each lesson builds on the last;
• create Paths, practice questions and flashcards from your goals and materials;
• process payments and manage your plan;
• keep Kuji safe, prevent abuse and fix problems;
• send you messages about your account, such as sign-in codes and receipts, and product updates you've signed up for; and
• understand, in aggregate, how Kuji is used so we can improve it.

We use AI models to power the tutor. We don't allow our AI providers to use your lessons to train their models where their terms give us that choice, and we don't use your personal information to train models of our own.

Who we share it with

We share information only with the service providers that help us run Kuji, and only what each needs:

• AI and speech providers (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepSeek, Deepgram, ElevenLabs and Cartesia) to understand your speech, generate the tutor's replies and speak them aloud.
• Daily, to carry the live audio of your lessons.
• Polar, our payment processor. We never see or store your full card details.
• Resend, to send email.
• Hosting and storage providers, which run our servers, database and file storage.

If you join Kuji through a school, university or other organization, that organization can see your name, email, enrollment, progress and the lessons you take within its courses, so it can support you. Its own privacy notice also applies.

We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect the safety of our users or the public, or as part of a merger or sale of our business, in which case we'll tell you before your information falls under a different policy.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, Paths, lessons, progress, flashcards and uploaded files. Some records, such as payment history, may be kept for as long as the law requires. Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis.

Your choices and rights

• Access and correction: you can see and edit most of your information in the app.
• Deletion: you can delete your account at any time from Settings.
• Emails: you can unsubscribe from product updates using the link in any of those emails.
• Other requests: depending on where you live, you may have rights to a copy of your data, to object to or restrict how we use it, or to complain to your data protection authority. Email [email protected] and we'll respond within 30 days.

Children and teenagers

Kuji isn't for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child under 13 has signed up, contact us and we'll delete the account.

Learners aged 13 to 17 can take their first lesson on their own. Continued paid access for them must come from a parent, guardian or organization.

Security

We protect your information with encryption in transit, access controls and careful handling by our team. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your email account safe, since that's how you sign in.

International transfers

Our providers may process your information in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page when our practices change and revise the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
